The University Testing Center opened in August 2022 as part of a three-phased project to provide academic and professional testing services to SMU student clients and our community partners. Help us amplify academic and professional success via testing services at SMU. Our testing labs are quiet, clean, spacious and electronically monitored for efficient test proctoring, but our lobby could really use some life! Our mission is to provide a secure and professional testing center, as well as one that is inviting, comfortable, and supports the emotional well-being of our students and community clients. In our first few months, we’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from visitors about our facility in the Clements Hall basement.
The addition of live foliage at our entrance would set the stage for a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere when arriving with that test anxiety we’re all too familiar with. Test anxiety is real. It’s a top psychological issue on college campuses far and wide and right here at home on the SMU campus. At the UTC, we are dedicated to supporting not only academic needs but mental health needs for the most positive outcomes possible. Can you help us? We estimate $4,000 could provide a fresh, lush and thriving plant life to our bare lobby and labs, which would help create an inspirational setting to achieve a winning score on that test!
