The SMU Feminist Equality Movement is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering equality, equity and inclusion on campus. We strive to be a voice for marginalized groups, create spaces for dialogue and advocate for positive social change within our community. Our mission is to bring the student body together, champion equal opportunities and raise awareness of critical issues affecting women and minority groups both locally and globally. The funds raised during SMU Giving Day will help us expand our reach and deepen our impact. Specifically, your generous donations will allow us to host more events and raise awareness and action. One of the events we would like to build is a campaign around International Women’s Day to educate the campus community on global issues affecting women, such as gender-based violence, economic inequality and access to education. Furthermore, we would like to bring inspiring speakers to campus including leaders, activists and professionals to share their insights and experiences. These speakers can spark meaningful conversations about gender equality, empower students and inspire action. Finally, our events and resources benefit the entire student body by fostering awareness and providing opportunities for growth and leadership. We are passionate about this mission because we believe in the power of collective action and education to create change.
