At SMU Earth First, we serve SMU students, faculty and the surrounding Dallas community by promoting sustainable practices and environmental awareness. Our mission is to empower individuals with practical tools and knowledge to make eco-conscious choices that benefit both the campus and the planet. The funds raised will address critical needs in sustainability education and action at SMU. This includes reducing food waste on campus, improving recycling systems, and providing resources to help students and community members adopt sustainable living habits. These efforts not only enhance the campus environment but also inspire long-term changes in behavior that extend beyond SMU. Your generous contributions will directly support: - Sustainable small groups: Providing materials and resources to our three core initiatives – reducing food waste, improving recycling and teaching upcycling techniques. - Guest speakers and workshops: Bringing in sustainability experts to educate and inspire our community on pressing environmental issues. - Community outreach: Expanding awareness and accessibility of sustainable practices through events and collaborations with local organizations. We believe that sustainability is a responsibility of all of us to create a better community, as well as improving the health of our environment. As the only sustainability-focused organization on campus, we are committed to making a lasting impact by equipping our members, the student body, faculty and alumni with the tools to lead greener lives.

Earth First promotes social, mental, and emotional well-being among our members by empowering student leadership and fostering a sense of community. Through activities like lake cleanups and urban farming, we provide individuals with opportunities for physical engagement and connection with nature, others, and themselves. Additionally, our research initiatives offer students hands-on experiences where they can apply practical classroom knowledge in impactful ways.
