Academic Development of Student-Athletes

The ADSA provides academic support to our student-athletes during their time as a Mustang. The office consists of academic counseling, a tutorial program and reading/writing interventionists to improve academic skills and identify potential barriers to learning, empowering our athletes to succeed!

Archaeology Research Collections

The Archaeology Research Collections (ARC) is the home of over 50 years of archaeological research, artifacts and documents produced by SMU faculty and students. We preserve these items for future researchers across the globe and use our collections for education and training of the next generation of museum and archaeology professionals.

Your support of the ARC will go to support our current efforts at rehabilitating and documenting SMU's collections from archaeological sites studied by SMU in advance of the construction of Lake Bob Sandlin in the mid-1970s. We are hoping to obtain at least 10 new high-precision radiocarbon dates to provide a significant reassessment of the archaeology of North Texas.

Association for Public Interest Law (APIL)

The Association for Public Interest Law at SMU Dedman School of Law is a group of SMU law students committed to public service. The Association for Public Interest Law at SMU helps raise awareness of public sector jobs through job fairs and speaking events, allowing students to explore how attorneys address social issues such as domestic violence, child abuse and discrimination.

Each year, APIL raises money to provide stipends for law students who are interning for nonprofit agencies or public interest organizations during the summer. APIL stipends allow future lawyers to gain community-minded experience and training and provide much-needed legal assistance to charitable organizations and their clients.

Athletics Cultural Intelligence Fund

The student-athletes of SMU Athletics represent a diverse subset of the SMU student body. Our program seeks to partner with other departments on campus to raise the profile of SMU's cultural intelligence efforts. Your support will fund key new programs, speakers, leadership development and new initiatives - such as campus and community collaboration events, education series and more - geared toward advancing our mission.

Budd Center: Involving Communities in Education Operating Fund

The Budd Center works with schools and nonprofits to unite and navigate the turbulent waters of educational and emotional challenges. Children living in underprivileged circumstances face unique challenges that can impact their academic journey. However, with the right support system addressing their social, emotional and educational needs, these students can remain engaged, thriving learners. While schools and nonprofits are committed to nurturing these complex needs, they often encounter obstacles such as information gaps and limited resources. The Budd Center steps in to bridge these gaps, fostering collaboration between schools and nonprofits to ensure that every child has the opportunity to excel, regardless of their background. Our goal is to empower these young individuals to successfully navigate their educational paths, fully prepared for college, careers and life.
